There is help and hope!
You do not have to fight depression alone. In fact, isolation and loneliness will often increase the signs and symptoms of depression. You might be asking, “How does a person know when to seek help?” The answer to this question is when the depression severely disrupts a person’s ability to function normally. It is when you are not able to get out of bed in the morning or when you find yourself crying for no apparent reason. It is when you have tried to overcome the feelings of sadness and hopelessness only to fall deeper into despair.
This is when you need to seek the help of a depression counselor or a depression therapist. Depression counseling will focus on first helping you to know you are not alone and that there is hope. A Crossroads depression therapists will work with you to identify the negative thought patterns, external causes, and even brain chemistry the contribute to depression. In depression counseling you will learn how to take control over the symptoms by using prayer or meditation, mindfulness techniques, changing negative thought and belief patterns and in some cases family therapy or couple’s therapy. In some situations it is necessary to treat depression with a combination of traditional talk therapy and natural remedies and/or medication. Crossroads therapists partner with both Naturopathic doctors and Psychiatrists when additional support is needed. Depending on your preference we will connect you with someone who can help.
