Self-Awareness Quiz?

Self-awareness is the ability to understand one's own thoughts, feelings, behaviors, emotions, values and needs.  It is being able to "see" oneself and to "know" oneself through reflection, observation, and feedback from safe and trusted others.

In the book, A Theory of Objective Self-Awareness, psychologists Shelley Duvall and Robert Wicklund defined self-awareness as:

"Self-awareness is the ability to focus on yourself and how your actions, thoughts, or emotions do or don't align with your internal standards. If you're highly self-aware, you can objectively evaluate yourself, manage your emotions, align your behavior with your values, and understand correctly how others perceive you."

As you grow in your knowledge of yourself, you will have increased capacity to relate to others, to regulate your emotions in healthier ways, and to make better life decisions.  Overall, self-awareness is important in that it can help you live a more meaningful and purposeful life.

No one is 100% self-aware.  There are levels or degrees of self-awareness.  This quiz can help you assess your level of self-awareness.  In other words, how often are you conscious of what is happening inside of you?  How often do you know why you do the things you do?  How aware are you of your emotions and needs?  How often does your behavior align with your values?

How self-aware are you?
