Our first responders risk their lives to help others. The least we can is make sure they have the resources they need to do their jobs.”

Are You a First Responder Seeking Counseling Services?
We can help! Crossroads Counseling has provided counseling services to first responders since 2016. Many of the therapists at Crossroads Counseling have received training to understand the challenges unique to first responders. Crossroads Counseling also has trauma trained therapists who can work with first responders who have experienced traumatic incidents related to performing the duties of their job.
Many First Responders Struggle with Signs and Symptoms of PTSD
If you are a first responder, chances are high you have encountered a traumatic event. It is estimated that approximately 30% of first responders will develop behavioral health conditions, including depression and PTSD, compared to 20% in the general population. Some studies suggest that as many as 35% of police officers may develop PTSD at some point in their career.
These events can significantly alter how you feel and function. There are some instances when the intense and difficult emotions linger long after the trauma has occurred. This can sometimes meet the criteria for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD.
At Crossroads, we offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR. EMDR has helped many overcome PTSD and/or traumatic events that do not meet the diagnostic criteria for PTSD. EMDR can help you learn to let go of distressing areas you may be holding within yourself to make room for positivity in your life. With openness and the right therapist, trauma and PTSD therapy with EMDR can help your body rediscover its ability to heal.
You Don’t Have to Suffer Alone; There is Help!
The Craig Tiger Act, also known as the Officer Craig Tiger Act, is a law in Arizona that provides counseling services to first responders who experience traumatic events. The law’s goal is to help first responders get treatment before they develop PTSD or other mental health issues. If you are a first responder you may be eligible for up to 36 counseling sessions.
