Lisa M. Clark, LAMFT
Lisa M. Clark, a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, is devoted to strengthening families and individuals through restoring connections, creating new, healthy interactions, and developing safe and secure bonds. In therapy, she creates a safe, non-judgmental place to work through life’s challenges and stressors. Lisa approaches struggles within family relationships by understanding attachment styles, boundaries, and assessing connection with inner emotions. She utilizes Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy to help create healthy relationships, stronger connections, and more meaningful communication, thereby, enabling individuals and couples to experience a deeper, more vulnerable connection.
With training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman couples therapy, Lisa utilizes a plethora of empirically-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Strength-Based Approaches. Personal experience and extensive training allows Lisa to work with families of separation, divorce, co-parenting concerns, blended families and premarital couples with compassion. Lisa is trained in two research based marital assessment programs, Prepare-Enrich and SYMBIS, which are intended to help couples identify growth areas as well as unique strengths of their relationship. She offers pre-marital counseling and classes as well.
Lisa is passionate about journeying along side couples struggling with destructive relationship patterns such as infidelity, lack of communication and conflict, in addition to family issues, and life transitions that cause anxiety and distress. The people we love can be a source of great distress as well as a source of tremendous joy. Lisa’s work with clients helps to balance and navigate these two opposites.
Lisa received her Bachelor of Science in Business and her Masters in Public Administration from California State University Dominguez Hills. She worked with several faith based nonprofits before staying home to homeschool her children for 5 years. In 2017, she earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theology Seminary. She is committed to professional and personal growth, seeking opportunities to learn and grow in her faith and as a therapist.
